Words may be your instruments,
I play with silence.
Buzz may whirl your presence,
I am happy solitary.
You may run after aspirations,
I walk with contentment.
Time may suppress your dreams,
I am living my dream.
You may treasure the illusions,
This life is my possession.
You may hear all false in truth,
I hear truths in lie.
Ceaseless moulding may distort you,
I reform distortions.
Reasons may govern your existence,
I prefer this heart.
Relations may be servile for you,
I am identified by them.
Tears may fade the smiles you smiled,
I cherish those drops.
You may need to hide behind veils,
I have my head held high.
Questions may ruin all your lessons.
I am an answer myself.
You may call yourself ‘the perfect’,
I work towards perfection.
You may end up going under,
I rise with every move.
Obtrusive breakdowns may break you,
I rise from pieces.
You may say you wish to be me,
I say…. it’s you!
I just finished the book Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah by Richard Bach
The book centers around a character by the name of Donald Shimoda who crosses paths with the narrator, Richard. As they travel the countryside together as barnstormers, selling joy rides on their small planes, Shimoda is revealed to be a “messiah”.
The book brings the truly simple, yet profoundly complex theory of life, into perspective making one feel that they may be able to conquer all of their insecurities by simply always being happy. But happiness seems to be one of the hardest feelings to be and hold on to, for all of us, so how do we start?
With thoughtful, and deep quotes and a beautiful story line, Bach explains the secrets of the world and then undermines them all. He portrays a new way of looking at life. It's the same world, yet different, because the Messiah is a normal automobile mechanic, who heals people and teaches Richard about the Illusions of life, and how he can overcome them. This book is full of wonderful teachings to apply to one's own life.
Shimoda passes along the wisdom of many lifetimes to Richard, who in fact may be a messiah-in-training. These include gems like:
“You’re like everybody else. You already know this stuff—you’re just not aware that you know it, yet.”
and
“Believe you know all answers, and you know all answers.”
Illusions does what good spiritual fiction should do. It gets you to see the world from a fresh perspective, looking at seemingly ordinary events in a new way. The book also gets across the important point that wisdom gained is not to be coveted by its owners, but needs to be shared with others.
Bach closes the story with one of many choice passages from a book of wisdom that pops up throughout Illusions:
“Here is a test to find whether your mission on earth is finished. If you’re alive, it isn’t.”
The book is really about how to develop yourself, how to exceed your own expectations and how you may use the people around you as teachers to get the knowledge you need and to get self-realization. These things are really the underline of the book and the story is more of a metaphor to express the real message that the author wants to deliver. I believe the best thing about this book is that everyone who reads it can identify themselves with the message and also understand it differently.
The larger statement here is that each of us has in us, the power to make our own path just the way we want it, if only we let go.
To quote, “Argue for your limitations, and sure enough, they’re yours”.
In life you face unimaginable challenges, some a blessing, some nightmares, some tough, some you just can bluff. But how do you prepare yourself?
You know the truth, you feel it, you believe it, but deep down inside you know there's more, there something wrong, something strong deep within lingers on! How does it work? Do you believe in one and ignore the other? One part good, the other evil, do you take the gain & forget the pain?
I'm an analyser, so I've been told, maybe I do, yes I do, don't we all? Even though we say we don't or we think we don't we all do, it's a matter of knowing your mind. How do you pick a side when your heart & your mind is at war? Do you give in or do you fight? Do you let one win or the other lose?
Sometimes things are not simple, sometimes what we firmly believe maybe an illusion, maybe it's not, maybe it is, nothing tangible but such big weight! Conversations, implications, statements, screams and tears all this could add up to be a maze, endless & lifeless. Judgment is everything, you choose not because you have to, but you want to. Realise that life calls but once, unless answered it just runs away.
Actions need not have meanings, need not have motives, without a reason, but it depends on situation to people.
If my heart needs proof, it'll ask, but it doesn't, and it also understands where I stand, in between, it knows, it just chooses not to pierce through, not accept pain but let it flow with time.
I do, I want to, If not, I'd never!
Sometimes, I like being alone...
being alone with no one but my thoughts that swirl round and round in my head
being alone and not having to worry about what anyone else thinks about me
being alone and not having to go any place but where I want to be.
Sitting here alone, I’m letting recollections flood me after a long time. I close my eyes, sigh deeply, and let the memories come rushing in....
Man's life is but an act, God's thought is the action. Knowing this, (O heart), why do you get so anxious........
Have you ever stopped to think about the events and people that have shaped your life thus far? Not just the good moments are the most memorable but all the little things, thoughts and actions that play out in our lives and contribute to how we act and perceive the world and our selves? It may not be easy to remember or recognize all these events but within them lies the answers to many questions about why we are the person we are today. From the thoughts we carry in our own heads to the way others see and treat us, we are shaped by forces that are not always in our control or our consciousness. If we can stop for just a few minutes each week and look into the moments that have caused us joy, pain or discomfort and then trace them to their root source within our heart we can often see that we are simply reacting to circumstances out of our conditioning and not really a conscious direct effort. We begin to see just how much of what we mistake for “us” is really nothing more than auto-pilot mode at work in our life. Living moment to moment can be one of the toughest undertakings and yet it truly is the way to get off auto-pilot mode and come to appreciate and fully understand our self and our conditioning to the world. So I try each day to be in direct touch with my experiences, recognize my reactions and question why it is the way it is. This has rewarded me with insights and understanding which allow me to stop being shaped by the world and start shaping my own life and world!
I think of myself as a complicated person. I'm easy to get to know, but its hard to maintain the status quo, I've been told. I don't mind that, not one bit. Nothing should come easily. Those empty spaces should be filled. And at the end of it all, if the person is by your side, they're for keeps.
Overtly simple people bore me. My radar spins towards those with a zing. The zing comes with its own brand of sting. I secretly enjoy the sting.
