Each day I think hard and decide not to be that way..... and then I wake up with a smile on my face and a thought in my mind and I realise things are meant to be exactly the way they are :)
O heart, your insistence is commendable !
Why this obsession, what is its aim?
After all why this keen desire?
How can I explain this restiveness?
How did I end up here?
Why should I stay lost in dreams?
O heart, why do you keep telling me to.......
wrote this earlier today.......... probably the most abstract of my writings
too many questions and just one answer.... but these 7 lines bring a million thoughts in my head.... I call them a chapter in "the book of life"
Just for today I will open my eyes and thank the Universe for one more day
Just for today I will look in the mirror and find one thing I like about myself
Just for today I will smile at a stranger in the traffic
Just for today I will greet someone I don't particularly like - and mean it
Just for today I will sing a song and not care if I am off key or who hears
Just for today I will do something I want to do, no matter what anyone else thinks
Just for today I will give someone a word of affirmation - not because I have to, but because I want to
Just for today I will be grateful for who I have in my life, not what I have
Just for today I will say a sincere thank you if I receive a compliment and not joke it away
Just for today I will do each task to the best of my ability
Just for today I will hug someone
Just for today I will tell someone I love that I love them
Just for today I will appreciate having a job, a bed and food
Just for today I will appreciate the beautiful colours of the sunset
Just for today I will be grateful for one more day that was undeserved, one more day that was lived to the full, one more day to love and be loved, one more day to be me
A lot of people keep asking me how I still have the motivation to start a PhD in a totally new department where I have to do classes like Electro Magnetism, Quantum Mechanics and Thermal Physics which I haven't read in over 5-6 years...
well simple answer.... The feeling I get when I work hard on these classes and manage to top at class of 23 students with a 99% on the final is what keeps me going and looking forward to more such things :)
After Life in a Metro, no Hindi music album appealed to me much. Listening to my old playlist excessively on my ipod, I was looking for a new addition to bring some variation. One recent number I like is Aankhon mein teri Ajab si from Om Shanti Om among the hoards of new songs. Though yet to be subjected to repeated listening to test how long it appeals to me , I kinda like this song. Om Shanti Om has music by Vishal Sekhar.
The song appealed to me because the background music is minimal like the Tinka Tinka number and the tune is alose very melodious and pleasing. KK proves his versatility yet again and is no doubt my favorite singer of recent time after Sonu Nigam. The music is different from the recent VS style of music. I feel it is more like the Vishal-Sekhar of "Jhankaar Beats".
Here's the promo track on youtube if you haven’t seen it on TV.
Writing the lyrics as I listen to the song....
Aankhon mein teri ajab si ajab si adaayein hai
Dil ko banade jo patang saanse yeh teri woh hawayein hai
Aayi aisi raat hai jo bahut khusnaseeb hai
Chahe jissey duur se duniya woh mere kareeb hai
Kitna kuch kehna hai phir bhi dil mein sawal kahin
Sapno mein jo roz kahaan hai woh phir se kahoon ya nahin
Tere saath saath aisa koi noor aaya hai
Chand teri roshni ka halka sa ek saaya hai
Teri nazron ne dil ka kiya jo hasarr asar yeh huwa
Ab in mein hi duub ke hi ho jaon paar yahin hai duwa
Aankhon mein teri Ajab si ajab si adaayein hai
Dil ko banade jo patang saanse teri woh hawayein hai
Team India rocks!! Down 3-1 in the series, Dravid and Co. had to win 2 in a row to level the series and they did it! What was most impressive was that the wins were not by just individual contributions but Team India as a whole played great cricket!
With both Dada and Master in prime form with their batting, India couldn't have asked for a better start chasing a big total. A 150 run opening partnership meant we were never away from victory even when wickets fell in the middle overs. The way Dhoni and Uthappa played brought back memories of Jadeja and Robin Singh. Uthappa all of 21 years looked so cool and composed and took India home. His innings today reminded me of what Michael Bevan used to do for the Aussies.
I got up at 7.00 in the morning to check out the score and get ready to go to class at 9.30. I saw that England had scored 316 and I wasn't all that confident about the chase from India especially since we were under a lot of pressure to win this game just to level the series. I started watching the game and as it went on, Dada and Sachin played some of the most exquisite cover drives and lofted shots. It was heartening to see Ganguly play the pull shot to perfection on a couple of occasions.
Time was soon 9 and I had class at 9.30. I am too big a fan of team India and cricket in general so I decided to skip my Stat class to watch the game today :D As the game went on, it turned into a high-voltage encounter. I believe that India can win most games just with its batting and I always wish we play with a 7-4 team. Today that was exactly why we won. We needed someone lower down the order who could take all the pressure and still deliver.
Most times when India loses a game, it is because we do not have that one person who can carry the team over the last step and take us across the line. With 7 batsmen in the team and Dhoni and Uthappa as 6 and 7 we always had a chance even with a req rate of over 9 in the last 6 overs. they did just that and the last 2 shots that Uthappa played I will probably remember for a long long time to come. Here's wishing him a long career and many more such performances for India. Kudos to Sachin for another great innings. People talk about Team India not performing when Sachin plays well. If anybody needs any clarification please ask me and I shall supply suitable evidence with statistics to prove that he HAS won a lot of games for us :)
I was watching the game along with Tarak and Sandeep and it felt wonderful. We jumped up in joy and shouted out loud. As I looked at the big Tricolor on my wall, I suddenly felt very patriotic and extremely proud to be an Indian :)
